Research Program "Water4paper"

MEL – Macedonian Paper Mills S.S.A. actively participates in research efforts that protect the natural environment.

Recently, MEL in collaboration with theLaboratory of Natural Resources and Renewable Energies Utilization(NRRE) of Centre of Research & Technology - Hellas (CERTH), started theoperation of the aerobic membrane bioreactor pilot unit for the treatment of liquidwastes, at its facilities in the context of Water4paper project (T2EDK-05301) under the call RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE.It is a research project aimed at the circular economy, which isco-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the EuropeanUnion and by national resources through theOperational ProgrammeCompetitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPAnEK).

The aim of the tests is todemonstrate the operation of the pilot unit in a business environment, with the aim of further limiting the consumption of natural resources and especially water.
